"My late husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2003. I, as so many others in care giving roles, was his sole caregiver. Seeing to his emotional needs, his physical well being and safety became a full-time job. The magnitude of which became overwhelming at times.
When his physician suggested that I look into Respite Care for his, as well as my well being, I reluctantly did so, as I was not ready to turn his care over to anyboby else. I visited Family Alliance and decided “to give it a try.”
How grateful I am that I did!
Family Alliance provided my husband with a safe, caring environment where was able to socialize and engage in meaningful activities. He was valued and respected and so enjoyed his time there.
As for me, having a couple of days a week without his constant care, relieved me of a lot of stress and fatigue and re-energized me for those other 24-hour, around-the-clock never ending care giving responsibilities. I so appreciated the wonderful services they provided!
It is my sincere hope that Family Alliance will be able to keep providing these valuable and critical service to those caregivers so in need of them."
